My Children............

This is the new deadlifiting suit that I plan to buy before my next comp. I have a choice of black, blue (above) and red. So I have dedided to go with the blue one. Here is the blurb from the Inzer web site......

Description: The incredible propulsion of MAX DL will give you the explosive starts and super strong lockouts you need for extreme performance deadlifting. MAX DL is the greatest innovation in essential deadlifting gear since the power belt!

I can't wait to wear it - although I expect it is going to hurt a bit getting it on the first few times!

I got through the sprint/plyometric session yesterday a little easier than I had expected - which is always a nice suprise. I was sore, but not too bad and I performed the required exercises with a little more strength than I thought I had in me. I guess the past 12 months of powerlifting are really showing.

This morning I feel a little sore all over, and am looking forward to a relaxing recovery walk. I will go around the river on the floating walkway then around the city and through the gardens, and back over the Story bridge home - about 10kms.

It is coming to the end of my work out week - and then I will have 2 days to recover. I was so tight yesteday that by the end of my training session I couldn't sink low enough into a light squat. By the time I had walked home from the gym I could bearly climb the stairs to my apartment, and I lay on the couch all day (except to go and have a facial).

I have recovered quite well overnight, although I am still tight through the glutes, top of the hammies and hips. This recovery is fortunate as I have a sprint session this morning. Now I know it is going to hurt and I will need every hour of the next 2 days to recover. Unfortunately my bikram yoga studio is on very limited sessions, the sauna is closed for a few days and my massage therapist is away. I am having to recover without all these things that I include in my normal weekly program. I am so sad (and sore) about that!

My weight has dropped a little this week, and although there is still about another 4.5kgs to go, I am sure it will just be a matter of consistany and dedication. I remember when I would start dieting for figure competitions and I would have 10kgs to loose - wow that was a real challenge for so many reasons.

Oh well, I had better stretch and have another coffee :-)

Lactic Acid!

I am in sooooooooooooooo much pain!

I am back from the Hyatt - very relaxed and revived. I have already done a squat training session today, and will go to spin this afternoon. I am focussed and looking forward to directing my energy into training for the next month. There has been so much focus on work recently and I need a break from that.
I had some yummy treats to eat and drink over Xmas, but all very modest and my weight is stable - yeah! It is so tough to have to go back and loose weight after being so mindful of diet for months on end.
My goal for this year is to compete in the 52kg division and to exceed a total of 320kgs so I can lift in the world titles. I am going to approach this in chuncks and the first milestone is to be 55kgs by the end of Jan, and to build solid strength in the bottom of the squat to allow a 120kg squat by States in Apr.

This is Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. Actually it is the cliffs the be exact. There are 2 sets of stairs that wind up this cliff face, and when I talk about running stairs these are the stairs I refer to. So you can all understand the pain I am feeling in my legs right now, just 24hours after being chased up these for 50 minutes by a very fit trainer. He didn't even have the decency to wait down the bottom so I could slow up a bit when I got to the top and out of his site.!!!

For all sorts of reasons my stair training has been sporadic, however I am dedicating the next 6 weeks to conquering these......and I have a punishing trainer who will make sure I do!

Merry Christmas to all. We are off to the Hyatt Coolum today for 2 days of luxury and pampering to relax!
I finished work on Friday afternoon after a brilliant sales quarter - well over 200% of quota - but exhausted from the sheer volume of work that was involved in getting there. Suprisingly I started to relax first thing Sat morning - despite a torturous session at the kangaroo point stairs. I finished the day with a sauna and the most relaxing 1/2 hour massage I have ever had. For the next 3 days I intend to relax, unwind, not train and have the occassional food treat. As when I come back it is all systems go to 320kgs @52kgs!!!!

This is a Sumo deadlift, and I have just started to learn this technique. Nic feels that I may be able to lift more using this technique over a conventional style. We will see how it goes . I like learning new things

It is squatting season - I am doing back squats, front squats, box squats and any other type of squat my coach can dream up in a week. I am also doing power cleans and snatches just in case my legs haven't been hammered enough in a session. Ouch I am in so much pain.
My knee injury a few months back seemed to have shortened my squat, so Nic is working on fixing that for good. I have to say after 2 weeks of squatting intensely I am feeling very comfortable in the bottom of the squat.

Crazy busy - that is all I can say.

It is Saturday today, and I have had 2 sleeps during the day to catch up. It would be so great to be able to turn off for a short time!

I have been back training for one week now. I am in a transition phase were I am recovering in general, regaining cardio fitness, setting new goals, adjusting my food, and preparing for the next competition - QLD state titles April 07.

Work has been crazy, however these past few months have been very successful for me professionally. There is a link bewteen physical and professional confidence and strength that I hadn't really noticed before. Odd really! However due to the success of the past quarter I have a couple of weeks to plan for next year at work as well. So these 2 weeks up to Xmas are a about crystalising the actions for my short term future - and taking all the pressure off. Relax.
