Moving up a weight class.

As I will be lifting in the 60kg div at World Masters, the team has decided that there is no point dropping weight to lift at 56kgs for Nationals. My current goal is to be as strong as possible at 60kgs in Oct so all focus is on that goal. The decision has been made to go up a weight category, my body is genetically designed to be at maximum strength/weight ratio at 60kgs - so 60kg lifter I am. There is no going back now.

I walk into the gym everyday asking Rod if I put on size - and while I might only be small I am feeling bigger each session. My strength is increasing and I am still able to eat liberally to assist in gaining muscle as I am still under weight. This is very cool!

Now this decision does significantly decrease my chances of placing at Nationals this year - but it fast tacks my hypertrophy plan for next year. So in the long run I will be ahead. One step back to take 2 steps forward.

What's up??
Busy, busy....so busy that I am not getting around to all the things I should be doing like blogging regularly. So I will make amends now....
I am 4 weeks and 4 days away from Nationals. My program had a bump in the road about 4 weeks ago, but I am pleased to say that I am back, on track and loving my lifting again. I have no real expectations about Nationals and I like that
Bodyworx becomes an incorporated business on 1 July. Rod and I are working like crazy getting our systems, branding and skills to the point we want them. We are gaining some great clients and business alliances and the future looks very positive for our Performance Nutrition programs.
We are off the the States in less than 3 months for World Masters and to finish our Biosignature certifications. There is so much study to do and we are both feeling a little overwhelmed.
Can you believe I am so busy I haven't seen Sex and the City yet!

I am in love with..........Sencha Green Tea Mints.
Exotic loose leaf mints - imbibed with an intoxicating blend or organic greent tea known to help inhibit the root causes of bad breath.Naturally Inhibits Bacteria - Scientific evidence supports the claim that green tea inhibits bacteria— the primary cause of bad breath. Unlike other mints which merely mask odour in the mouth, Sencha Green Tea Mints work at the source.
Sugar-Free - Sweetened with natural sweeteners that do not promote oral bacteria and tooth decay.
Fair Trade Certified - Our organic green tea is Fair Trade Certified by Transfair USA— ensuring both a fair price to farmers and workers, along with providing superior quality tea.
Available in 3 delightful flavours!
I found them at my local organic food store!

Last weekend Krista won her fourth title. This time it was the big one - National Champion women's bodybuilding - heavy weight div. She is now qualifed for World Titles in Spain in Oct.

What do the scales tell us?
Both of these photos are taken at around 59kgs. So tell me what is so important about those bloody scales? The photo on left was taken in March this yeat 12% bf, the one on the right was taken in Aug 2001 at 30% bf.
Don't measure your body composition progress on the scales - these photos prove that they have NO VALUE on their own.

PS - My BMI based on weight and height is the same in both pics - so you can see the value in that measurement too!

I met Lorna Jane last Friday. She was so inspiring and so incredibly grounded. In fact it was just like chatting to one of my girlfriends.
My aim is to be a succesful fitness business woman, and it was great to actually meet one in the flesh.

New PB on the bench press!!
Finally, after wandering in the wilderness I am having a break through on the bench press. The last 2 comps I have pressed 70kgs and failed 72.5kgs. Yesterday in training I did it! It was a smooth lift. We then went for 75kgs, and I was just off line - next week it will be mine.
This current program with Krista, my upper body is getting bigger, my lower body is getting smaller I am leaner and have more muscle mass than ever before.
Nationals are 5 week and 4 days away - BRING IT ON!!!!!

Being better than your best
I have just been hanging out on Lindy's forum and came across a post Lindy did on living your values. Here it is and my thoughts after it.
The best intentions matter little if your daily life doesn't reflect those values. How can you make sure that your thoughts and actions match? Good or bad, your values are shaped by your actions just as much as they do the shaping. Actions that are true to your values build a stronger personal foundation that others can see. Why are the memories of our greatest personal and public heroes so powerful and timeless, long after they're gone? They stood for something. They were living, breathing examples of the values they prized. It takes courage, a belief in yourself and strong determination. But it can be done. Do one thing today that shows the world what you believe. Do one thing that you know is right. Do one thing that would make your hero smile.

I have read this, and printed it out to put on my wall of fame next to a very large and inspiring picture of my hero - Krista!
I am very lucky in that I have personal contact with my hero, and I know what I have to do reflect that in myself. Often I will be at training feeling tired/fatigued/weak and I will close my eyes and pretend I am her. I get under the bar, step out like her, squat like her- almost like I am channelling her.
Heroes have paved the way for us - use this to fast track your own success. My dream is to bring a new approach to nutrition, supplementation and strength training for women to Aust. I know that I need to be that strong, lean, powerful, feminine force to inspire my clients and those around me - this and my picture of Krista push me to be better everyday.

Power Girl does it again!

Kritsa has won the overall title once again at her latest competition. I have nothing to say other than she is an amazing natural athlete and a total inspiration to me.

I am feeling a little unworthy as Krista's business alliance partner at present. Unfortunately a personal issue has derailed my training and nutritional strategies for Nationals. The sliver lining is that I have been about 70% compliant on my protocols and despite an emotional and stressful period my body is in good shape and my adherence to my protocols has turned out to be "body insurance". Yesterday I took my measurements and here is the news.......

I am almost 2kgs heavier at 59.5kgs, my body fat at 13%, and lean muscle is 52kgs. In March at the same weight I was 15% bf, so I have added muscle in that time. What does that mean for me? ... relatively stronger... better able to burn more fat, build more muscle, be more hormonally balanced, and metabolically active.

There are silver linings to every story, so now at 7 weeks out I have to suck it up and get my nutrition sorted as the rest is waiting for me to arrive on that platform at 56kgs stronger and leaner than ever before.

Back into it....
After a couple of weeks in the wilderness, I went back to training this week. Monday was a great bench session, and I managed to press 1 rep a 67.5kgs in my shirt which is a great way to come back. Yesterday was squatting and I am sure Krista is on a mission to either kill me or make me crazy strong. I am hoping crazy strong! After a warm up I did 6 sets of raw squats, then 4 sets of below parallel rack squats (starting from a rack at the bottom), and above parallel rack squats. Today I am sore . DOMS, and I am loving it. I think a sauna will be in order later today.

I am still smiling!
Well the past month has been an absolute roller coaster ride, and I am happy to say that I have come out the other end smiling! Fortunatley I got over my funky mood from last week, so thanks to everyone for the thoughtful e-mails.
I have been outrageously busy with my PN and training work, and organising my new business. When Rod and I go to the US for World's we are also getting our Biosignature and Poliquin strength training certs at the same time, so heaps to study and organise for that. Krista is back in 8 weeks so we are offering more services for her visit. Next month I am doing my Powerlifitng level 1 coaching certs and in August I do my weightlifitng level 1 certs, and somewhere in all this I need to prep for Nationals as they are less than 8 weeks away. I haven't really trained for 2 weeks so I think there will be pain tomorrow....
Rod and I are joining our businesses together, so soon we will launch Bodyworx as a joint business specialising in PN, Biosignature, Strength & Conditioning and Chinese Medicine.
On another note Mototo, my sponsor, has recently signed a major distribution deal in both Korea and Japan; excellent news for this fabulous Aussie company!
Have a great week everyone!
